  • Why do frames display instead of timecode?

Posted by Mark Dagostino on March 19, 2021 at 2:07 pm

I’ve been using Premiere Pro for about ten years. Recently everything I import displays frames instead of timecode and I have to modify the clips to fix. Frame rate doesn’t affect it as I import mostly 29.97pfs or 59.94fps. These are either mxf files or mov ProRes LT. In Premiere Media Preferences I’m set to 29.97df, timecode is set to “start at 00:00:00:00, I changed it to “Use Media Source” but that made no difference) and set to “timecode conversion. I typically use Prelude to offload footage and I don’t transcode. However, sometimes I just copy the mxf files directly and then import. No difference in terms of my issue. Any help would be appreciated.
