October 29, 2013 at 3:26 pm in reply to: HPX2000 720p30 vs 1080p30 DVCPRO HD

Obviously the 1080p is better than the 720p. If you have to deliver 720p then I would shoot on 720p and keep it through the entire workflow. The DVCProHD files are nearly as good as real 1920×1080 pictures. The best results come with the intra codec. There is a extension card for the 2000, it’s worth buying.

  • first scale your tiffs. All must be RGB 8bit, 1920×1080 size, 72 dpi. You should have no problems importing them in your 16:9 DVCPro timeline.

    Nothing,

you need to check your specs within FCP and your monitoring. It depends on your monitoring and on your monitor, whether it is capable of doing progressive.

    Hi folks,

Netstor is a good solution when you operate with thunderbolt. I wonder whether you get enough speed for uncompressed 444 with esata.

You have to transcode the C300 files first then import the ProRes files in Premiere. Then you can deal with it in FCP.

You can throw the VOB files on the timeline in FCP but you have to render, or use mpeg streamclip to transfer the VOB’s in the first place.
