HPX2000 720p30 vs 1080p30 DVCPRO HD
I have a DVCPRO HD only HPX2000, and I am curious if I shoot in 1080 30p mode, will I be able to achieve higher resolution than 720 30p mode if I convert down to 720p30 for the final file. I understand DVCPRO HD 720 is really 960×720, but 1080 comes out at 1280×1080, so I would be able to get full horizontal resolution right? I imagine there might be some issues with this though.
Also, why doesn’t my DS GAIN function work in 30P mode, that sucks. 🙁

Obviously the 1080p is better than the 720p. If you have to deliver 720p then I would shoot on 720p and keep it through the entire workflow. The DVCProHD files are nearly as good as real 1920×1080 pictures. The best results come with the intra codec. There is a extension card for the 2000, it’s worth buying.
