    Thanks. IR remote could work.
But I want to do the shooting in very rough conditions in South Asia. IR remote control does not work safely in bright sunlight used in the back of the cameras. Is it possible to start the cameras with a remote control? I guess the remote start/stop/zoom control is not using a LANC protocol like the Sony cameras, or? So is it possible to trigger the cameras by using a simple cable?

    Hi Jeremy,

thanks. That will help me to have a good night rest!
But is there a way to change the filenames? Adding date and time?

    Thank you Jan,

Everyday one could learn something new 😉

Jan, last week I posted a question concerning the AG-3DA1 – but got no answer. Could you please answer this?

Do the HD-SDI out ports supply a better codec if you connect them to 2 external recorders? Will it be possible to get something like the AVCIntra codec with 10 BIT?

    Thanks

    Hi Noah,

I thought that one could set one camera in master and the second one in slave mode via IEEE. As far as I know at least the TC will be synchronized. Is that not the same as genlock?

Why do you mention the “poor man’s 3D”. If you need an bigger interocular distance – the 170 is not that bad, or?.

January 13, 2010 at 10:51 am in reply to: P2 AVC Ultra 3D camera

Thank you Jan and Steve for correcting the rumors. The AVCHD 3D camera will be a success in the semiprofessional market, no doubt. But for documentaries most of the TV station will not accept a lot of AVCHD codec. And it is more or less a law that 3D on big screens will suffer with high encoded footage.
So will it be possible to record the footage with two extra recorders via SDI or HDMI out?

    Thanks

January 12, 2010 at 7:44 pm in reply to: P2 AVC Ultra 3D camera

Panasonic announced the AVC Ultra Codec with 200 Mbit/sec and 10 Bit. On the same page is written that this will be used also for the 3D camera which is under development. And there are some pictures showing a P2 version of the 3D camera. I am not talking about the AVCHD camera. Has the release of the AVC Ultra 3D camera been postponed to 2011?

Is it possible to get two HD-SDI outputs from the AVCHD camera to record it on an external recorder with less compression?

    Thanks

I did some research. A build in stabilizer would help a lot. What do you think about something like the Sony HDR-XR520? Is there a similar model from Panasonic? I would prefer AVCIntra or AVCHD.

Looks good. But is the quality good enough to use the shots in a full HD P2 project?

    Hi Bruce,

    you wrote:

DVCproHD on the Varicam is vastly improved when the VTR menu is set to “compression mode=dark”.

What really does this setting with the picture? Expanding the black stretch or does it make the picture less noisy?

    Thanks a lot
