I had exact the question 🙂
We are talking about the 75 Ohm version, not the 50 Ohm, right?

  • I know – I use Lightroom and the keywords only a little…

No, my comment was more about: I use “keywords”, like the comment tab, scene/take tabs we find in MC or FCP. I don´t say that is bad at all but my impression is you NEED to or you´re lost – and you need to spend very much time thinking about keywords etc. So it surely works for some people that have that inner feeling to structure everything, have a nice clean living room, etc. Which is not bad at all, but there are more types of human beings. 🙂
I have my own structure concepts and depending on projects they need to be so or so or different. I don´t blame that keyword thing at all, only my impression is that they focus on it too much and leaving out different approaches.

You´re right – trimming is not really the same like in MC or FCP. From my point of view the MC trimmer is still the best. Adobe has to work on that feature (please write a feature request on the Adobe website :-)).
Being a MC and FCP Editor we also have to learn to work without selectable editpoints in the timeline. They need to fix that, too! It helps a lot to keep control.
But some trimming processes in PPro are nice anyway. They don´t have that +/- 1 frame button as we know it from FCP on the keyboard but you can have a “similar” effect with alt (or CMD, can´t remember that) and arrow left/right.
Things are different in some ways but if you get used to them they work out fine. I feel like the time when I learned FCP (coming from Avid). There were so many things being so different from MC that really drove me nuts…but in the end it was nice working with it. Same in PPro from my experience yet. No question, there are a couple of things that should be improved in PPro, but Adobe seems to listen (again: send requests). We will see if they really listen in PPro6.

    Greetings

  • Ok, some concepts and ideas look nice without having them tested in depth and real life situations.
But that keyword thing looks like it has been concepted by an Excel Junkie. When they still type their keywords I´m ready with editing…in PPro :-)))

I started with Avid years ago, worked with Media 100, FCP. Having two FCP suites I tested PPro5.5 and have now finished a project (find the result in the forum in the Adobe Premiere Pro section) with it. In general you really face your needs and the issues only when you work on a project with the system. I really enjoyed working with PPro and (as often said by others) it´s like a FCP8.
I´ve the feeling that Adobe listens and that the PPro6 could be really great – hopefully they will, the chance to get a big amount of FCP users is huge. If they proof that they listen with PPro6 (and the result is awesome) it´s gonna be the new FCP.
My way is to keep one FCP licence, setup a smooth working PPro5.5 place and have a look at Avid again. But I really hope that Adobe will take their chance.

    [Alex Udell] “Agreed.

Without being able to select trim points as objects, this would be difficult to implement.

    Alex

Yes, so…the next feature request! 🙂

Exactly – dynamic is the keyword 🙂

What works in some way is using “E” or “SHIFT+E”, but it´s not the same.

    [Alex Udell] “Mechanically:
“4. dissolves (video and audio) should be able to apply by right mouse click or something like that. If it´s possible, I haven´t seen it…dragging it from the effects window makes things a little slower during work.”

This can easily be mapped to keyboard shortcuts of your choosing. If you are using the PPro hot keys, I believe it’s Cntrl (CMD) D and Ctrl (CMD) Shift D.

Aaaah, sweet 🙂 Thank you! That works fine.

    [Alex Udell]
“while trimming it would be great to have the option to press IN during playback and bring the edit point to that position”

If you double click a clip on the timeline to load the edit to the source viewer, you can do exactly this in the source viewer and the change is reflected immediately on the timeline.

Ok, I see. This does not exactly what I thought of. E.g. you select an editpoint in the timeline and you want to match that edit point on an accent of music. Then (in FCP) you select that point where clip A meets clip B press play and hit IN at some point during playback – the editpoint will be changed to that point where you´d hit IN.

Because you cannot select editpoints in PPro like you can in FCP some things work a bit different, but may it works similar?
