The 5D Mark records H264 files. Is possible that the CF cards are formatted as NTFS, but sounds very strange.

This is even more contradictory:
– 30fps is one format.
– 24 fps is another format.
– PAL is another format.
There is no problem on working with 30fps, 24 fps or 25fps (PAL) footage, but 30fps-24-fps-PAL footage doesn’t exist.
Please try to find out which kind of footage are you working with or at least, elaborate your question.
Is difficult to understand what are you asking.

Is not really about compression.
I work with HQ stuff and depending of the origin (camera) and applications that you prpcess the stuff with, some times your files comes with the aperture as “Production” “Clean” or not checked.
Right now on my Finder i have two versions of the same clip. Both are Prores, edt on FC. One has gone through Color, nit the other. Both are 1920×1080, but one display that size, the other 1866×1062.BTW, I guess that in QTX you can’t change the Aperture.
If you are working with FC.7 you should anyway install QT.7. no because the Aperture issue, but to avoid certain Gamma issues.

Compressor is able to perform two different operations:
– Standar Conversion
-Conforming

With Compressor you’ll have no problem as long as you keep “Duration 100%” (Standard Conversion).
Then the audio will keep at 48Khz and you won’t have no problems on syncing.[Davide Marchesi] “So conforming with Cinema Tools is going to present me with an audio synchronization problem, but not Compressor right?”
Conforming with CinemaTools or Compressor (Duration different than 100%), you won’t be able to get things in sync because video/audio won’t play at the same speed than the audio files.
The audio on the Video files won’t be anymore 48Khz. No way to sync.

I use an script for “Automator” which unlocks all the files at once, but I know there are some other options with the Terminal.

That’s not any export problem, but the way each player display the movies.
QT files have also a “property” (Cmd-J > Visual display), called “Aperture” .
Try the different options.

You can do the same with QT.
Open and “SAVE AS..” and the file will be rewrapped as QT.

The main advantage of PP is that you will be able to to work with all your stuff as it is.
Of course, all that footage (no XDCAM) will need to be processed/rendered by PP once on the time-line or when exporting. You will skip all the tedious Compressor work and all the Log&Transfer. Sure, you will need a new system to take advantage of PP.
I past in below some interesting articles from FCP users that have make the transition to PP. Those are first impressions and as you will read are very positive. However there are many things that FCP users miss from PP. IHere you will find some cons on PP for FCP users;

Hi matt,
That data-rate is correct.
A first generation Prores is virtually uncompressed quality so you shouldn’t see any degradation.
I understand that you have edited that on a sequence matching the footage settings.
Any issue with interlacing/progressive?
Is all your workflow progressive?
