Most problems that we get on FC are not FC related. If the system is not optimized, applications can’t run well, and after a perfect installing the system is a mess, because MacOsX is unable to optimize him self.

I don’t know much about this, but i don’t think you can embed an AC3 on a QT file.
They are different formats. and they will need be packed together in a VOB or soemthing similar.
What you can do is to export a self contained movie from FC with all your audio channels and then, in Compressor or QT, export a QT movie with AAC audio. This allows different configurations for multi channel audio.

Don’t render or don’t export?
If you are trying to render your sequence, you may need to use Alt-R instead of Cmd-R.
If you are trying to export and you are unable, you must be getting some warning.
Anyway, if you have updated your system, you should try some system maintenance to make it work.
At least, repair permisions and better, run DiskWarrior.

For de little I know about HVEC (Wikipedia), is a delivery codec, thought i guess will have good options for acquisition too.
But, what about production?
How you see the future for a “virtually uncompressed” codec/format for production and high quality archiving?

Before the release of FCPX, many people was speculating with Apple support to MFX, but this didn’t happens.
Which do you think is the future standard for Apple “ecosystem”?

Hi Jim,
How beautiful pictures and what a beautiful place. Living in such place and enjoying those scenes..you are a lucky man. I live in the tropics and those pictures make me miss the snow (although I’m not sure if my dogs would survive there).
I have seen already the clips in PV, but I had no idea they were yours.
About the camera, I’m sold.
I have’t put my hands on the camera (got a GH2 with PV software), but i would like to know which kind of compression/file format had you sot with.

That probably could be more a system related issue than something due to FC.
Try repairing permissions, and if that doesn’t work, I would recommend you to use Diskwarrior to optimize the directories.

FC has a very well known bug that puts audio out of synk on certain circumstances.
