    Alan,
That was completely it. I was 25fps. Funny, after all these years I’ve never had an issue like that before.
Thanks for the quick reply – lifesaver.

Thanks Alan, I’ll put together a more detailed feature request and send it to your Support.

    Alan,
Are there any plans to add this functionality to future version?

I’ll jump on the bandwagon as well. Lovely, very naturalistic effects. Beautiful.

I can’t remember the exact technical details, but I seem to remember a tutorial online years ago where someone actually explained why when using anything with an alpha (i.e. a Title or a Matte) you should always use Fade Effect as opposed to a Dissolve. Fade Effect simply affects the Alpha (slowly turning if on/off effectively), whereas the dissolve affects both the Fill and Matte, making for a less ‘clean’ transition. He had examples, but I can’t seem to remember where it was anymore.

No worries Lori, let us know if it doesn’t work and I can have a proper look on my Avid.

    Hi Lori,
I’m not sat in front of my Avid at the minute, but i do have some notes I made about Avid DVD and here’s a section that might help you out:

    – To link a Menu Button or Thumbnail to a .mov, click on the Button (in the PREVIEW Window) and the BUTTON ATTRIBUTES Window > ‘General’ tab (bottom right) becomes highlighted. In the ‘Link To:’ drop-down menu select the .mov you want to link. Scroll down to the bottom of this Window and make sure the ‘End Action: Return to Menu’ option is checked. Repeat this for each Button/Thumbnail.

    Hope it helps.

No worries Alan. I remembered you could do clever things with Mattes from when I read the manual a LONG time ago, but wasn’t sure if this was one of them.
    Thanks anyway.

    ps.
Alternatively don’t forget that AniMattes can also be added to transitions directly (you don’t need to layer video tracks), so once created it can easily be re-applied.
You can also draw any shape you want and soften as much as you want.
