authoring with AVID DVD by Sonic
I’ve been using Sonic for a while now and just got a request from one of the people a freelance for. If a project has a few pages of menus… can you come back to the correct page after playing from the menu? What he wants is – After selecting and playing video – when you hit the menu button – can you be able to go back to the page you were playing from. I’ve tried a bunch of different things… and can’t seem to get the desired effect. What usually happens is when you hit the menu button – you go back to the first menu selection. Is there a button I’m not selecting… don’t see – do I need an upgrade or different version?

Hi Lori,
I’m not sat in front of my Avid at the minute, but i do have some notes I made about Avid DVD and here’s a section that might help you out:– To link a Menu Button or Thumbnail to a .mov, click on the Button (in the PREVIEW Window) and the BUTTON ATTRIBUTES Window > ‘General’ tab (bottom right) becomes highlighted. In the ‘Link To:’ drop-down menu select the .mov you want to link. Scroll down to the bottom of this Window and make sure the ‘End Action: Return to Menu’ option is checked. Repeat this for each Button/Thumbnail.

I have to check to be certain – but I’m pretty sure I did that. Hopefully I missed that one step and it was only the one time that I did. Thanks again for your help!
