I know it’s, like, two years after this thread got started, but this problem has always plagued me and it’s the first hit on google… AND I’ve found a great solution via apple’s pro tips:
    https://www.apple.com/pro/tips/screenshots.html

I generally edit with my second monitor set to preview and therefore have a full version of the screen up at all times. Now, I click Apple+Shift+4 to bring up the crosshairs, *important* then press [SPACEBAR] and the crosshairs turn into a little camera icon. Simply click on the full-screen image, and the screengrab automatically pops up on your desktop.

Hope this helps someone else too!

November 6, 2006 at 6:35 pm in reply to: workflow questions regarding dv/uncompressed

Here’s an add-on to the workflow question. I have mixed sources (DV, and stock footage that comes in at 720×486 often in photo-jpeg compression) and am aiming at an Uncompressed output that can later be laid to tape at a post house. My question is, should I downconvert everything I have to DV and output a 720×480 sequence that will later have to be scaled up to Uncompressed at the output stage, or scale all of my DV up to Uncompressed @ 720×486, and output Uncompressed from there?

Basically the question has to do with when will it be most advantageous for me to scale my DV-sized footage to the 486 vertical resolution.
