I’m having some issues with preview video for a project in a 23.98 timeline. The footage was acquired in 16:9 on a DVX100a, and I used Cinema Tools to reverse telecine my clips to 23.98fps for editing. I’m editing on a non-anamorphic timeline so that fcp will automatically generate the letterbox. Everything seems to be working pretty well actually… until I tried to turn “mirror on desktop” off on my Playback Output. All of a sudden, everything that I’ve rendered starts to go into some strange flicker mode where frames from alternate clips start flashing on the preview monitor. Unrendered video that renders in real time seems to play back just fine, but once I render it to make it pretty… flicker mode.

If I turn mirror on desktop back off, everything (including renders) previews fine again on the monitor. I like keeping mirror on desktop off because it forces me to look at the video monitor instead of the computer screen and because it gets rid of that annoying one frame difference between the two. Any ideas?

    thanks. raafi
