I like the “Hands on Training” lots of pictures but might be too basic. If you’re looking for something basic/advanced check out the “training from the source” or anything from Adobe Press.

I haven’t had any luck being able to animate a 3D object in PS either. I’m not sure if it’s possible right now. Of course you can animate the position but that’s all I’ve been able to do. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

When you say merge, you just want to play one after the other, right? You can use different tracks in Audition and have each one in it’s own track. Or you can use Soundbooth and do the same thing. The beta is available on labs.adobe.com It’s free and easy to use!
