I know this is an old thread but if you happen to be using R21, the new way of resolving missing textures is by using Window -> Project Asset Inspector -> Select all -> Relink Assets … (Paper with a chain icon at the top of the window) -> Point to a folder on your drive.

Sounds interesting! Would you be able to make an example and post it over? I don’t quite get where the coloured layer sits in 3D space in relation to the background and the track matte?

Thank you both, will try them out.

Apart from the project settings & render settings (which I wonder if it even has an impact in AE), are there other ways to set the frame rate?

Right, I’ve either found a separate issue or very much likely the issue causing this scene data mismatch.
At one point while working in C4D I changed the project frame rate and render frame rate to 12fps as I thought I might do the whole animation in stop motion style. I then went back on that, deciding that I would animate the characters in stop motion style while keeping cameras and the rest of the project in 24fps.
Now if I load that .c4d file into AE, the inspector shows the frame rate as 12fps, even though I’ve changed both project and render settings back to 24fps long time ago. I thought reloading the C4D project in AE (reload footage) would work, but no. I thought that it might cache the 12fps setting from when it first was loaded so I duplicated the file in Finder and the duplicated project opens as 12fps too. Also for some reason the start timecode for the project is 00120.
I’ve tried interpreting the footage to 24fps, but that clearly causes some weird issues with extracting scene data – I only get first 10 or so frames of about 150 frame project, with keyframes missing..
I think my project might’ve corrupted somewhere along the line, will have to copy everything to a new project and see if it works…

AE 2014.1.1 & C4D Broadcast R16.029. Just updating AE to 2014.2 to see if that helps.

Actually, it’s the other way around. They want to send over the keyed footage with an alpha channel.
Your no.2 point is a good one though, they could send me the camera originals and a b/w mask video as quicktime PNG w/ alpha.
And thanks for the tip in the edit, didn’t know that about windows encoding not supporting alpha channel.
Thanks for the tips.

That’s helpful, no doubt, but there seems to be no way of muting both channels.. Fed up of listening to B-roll grunts as I was crouching to grab a nice glide track shot on the floor! Especially if clients are present.

May 18, 2012 at 9:12 am in reply to: Simple Thunderbolt to Ethernet solution (Yeah, right!)We haven’t transitioned to a new system yet as none of the Thunderbolt-enabled PCIe extensions have actually been released for sale. Also still slightly apprehensive of new technology which hasn’t been tested properly ‘on the field’. The four options that have been announced are Magma ExpressBox 3T, mLogic mLink and Sonnet Echo Express and for more integrated solution, the xMac mini Server
All these look very tantalising if they play ball with, for instance the Small Tree PE2G6I (6-port Ethernet NIC). This means dedicated Gigabit ethernet per machine or double bandwidth if the machine has two ports, i.e. Mac Pro.
Steve (who has posted to this thread) said that they have tested their cards with the Magma and the mLogic devices with good results. He also said that they have Thunderbolt-enabled drivers for all their cards. Is this right Steve, I’m not misquoting you?
Just waiting for the devices to actually be released for sale and maybe get some first impressions from people before pushing the button on this!
But if this solution works, it would be an ideal solution for us and also fairly easy to extend by adding another 6-port NIC.
Cheers,
