    What a pulldown is:

It takes 24P and conforms it to 60i (29.97 with fields) – for a display context that refreshes field 1, field 2, field 1, field 2,… (which looks stupid on a display that does not, example a computer screen). Where a field here is every other scanlines.

A pulldown makes 5 frames from 4 by replicating two fields – just like the old analogue telecine. It does so by on 2 of the 5 frames take the odd (line 1,3,5…) of a frame and the even scanlines of another frame. The Upper or Lower here refers to where the previous and next frame scanlines get copied to that invented frame. In NTSC land where pulldown exists (25 FPS people like Europe don’t do that) you should for safety set the Pulldown to Lower first, since presumably in NTSC world the Lower scanlines are displayed 1/2 frame before the upper ones.

    This also seems to work

    Duplicate Comp1 in Project bin
    Go to Comp2
Apply Twixtor to Layer 1, set FPS value
    Cut
    Go back to original Comp1
    Select All Layers
    Paste

    Delete Comp2

    I found a workaround
After you applied Twixtor all layers
    Select all layers (CTRL A)
    Copy
    Create a new comp
    Paste
    – Now it points to the correct layer

You are correct, I had not testing that trick for a while
    that technique used to work
Presets for layers are busted too in the same manner

FxPlug is Final Cut native plugin format now, it only works in Final Cut (Motion also supports FxPlug but Twixtor does not work well in Motion right now). The FxPlug will support more bits per channel then 8 in Final Cut.

AE compatible plugins (the “The Full version”) work in After Effects, Premiere, Combustion and a few other apps. In Final Cut Pro AE compatible plugins are only supported at 8 bpc. No such limit in After Effects, the application. The same AE compatible plugin can work in all these apps.

Sorry for that option, it’s Apple decision to only support AE plugins at 8 bits per channel. Note for an extra $99.95 you can get both.
