This is not an issue only with RSMB, Adobe is supposed to have addressed this in 11.0.1 and above (the first upgrade of CS6). Perhaps in Preferences | Memory you can leave less memory to other apps. Also maybe you can do RAM previews in 8 bit project setup. Also note if you have another Adobe app opened it steals available memory for RAM preview. Alternatively from CS6, right clip in project bin, select Cache Work Area in Background, once done it will play from disk.

Unfortunately there is not really a way other than working at lower res

BTW: You can indirectly work with fields by working at 59.94 (50) and rendering 29.97 (25) with fields

    1) Shooting at 50P would help as then it’s just a matter of discarding fields.

    2) I don’t think for the 25P to 50i you need Twixtor, FieldsKit Reinterlacer mode Motion Estimated Fields would do.

    A. In Premiere you work in a Progressive Sequence
    B. You apply FieldsKit Reinterlacer, Upper Field FIrst – Output Create Motion Estimated Fields
    C. You export Upper Field 25 FPS
    and you should be good

    3) Now you need to apply this to individual clips on the timeline, otherwise you will get a weird second field at the end of each clip (as it will look otherwise to the next field which is completely different).

    Clear?

Would be nice but right now you have to manually animate the scene cut menu

    It could mean that

I am not sure if you have the original edit, it’s sometimes possible to load edit project in Premiere (if it’s not edited in Premiere, for example Premiere can load FCP 7…), import Premiere Project in AE. Then each clip will be on a different layer. If you are only doing frame rate conversion, you can probably set one Twixtor setup, copy it, select all (all layers) and paste Twixtor to all layers.
