It’s so weird. I just bought a Shure-FP24 on Sunday. I was also considering Sound Devices Mix-Pre pro… then, later, one of the guys at Location Sound informed me that the 2 mixers (although made by different companies) are identical. Apparetnly there was some kind of deal the two companies made….
Anyway- I got it. And it’s amazing!
Now I need a good boom pole and mount. I bought a carbon fiber “gitzo” (made by bogen)… but it just seems sort of cheap. There is something that tells me that in a few months I’ll have problems with it.
Do you have any advice on boom poles and great shock mounts?
Thank you,
Michael

August 6, 2005 at 7:42 pm in reply to: Jamming the timecode for 2 camera shoot? In order to sync audio in post?Thank you Barry-
For some reason, I can’t get the cameras to preset to the same timecode. I’ve been setting them both to 00.00.00.00 and then (using the remote) commanding both cameras to “free run” at the exact same time. At first it seems to work, but then when I go back to the main menu I see that the timecode is NOT running at the same time. Both time codes are running free- but one is like 23 hours ahead of the other (so I obviously wasn’t getting the initial timecode set correctly. What am I doing wrong here?
thank you

Thank you for your great advice! Yes- Everyone mentions the 416.
I’m thinking of recording shotgun mic in channel 1, and wireless lav in channel 2…. then doing some sort of mix in Post.
Do you have any thoughts about this technique? Will a lav mic ‘detract’ from a 416’s sound? What considerations should I take?Any advice on wireless lavs? I was looking at Lectrosonics.
Once again- Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience!
Best,
Michael

I’m sorry, but I think you misinterpruted my original intent, grossly. Your reply’s have been fairly aggressive from the the get go. It’s seems as if you’re taking my looking for an inexpensive lab as a personal attack… you’re so offended. Why?
Are you here on The Cow to throw your weight around and bash peoples questions or what? I thought this was supposed to be at least semi-supportive environment. All that I did was ask for some advice on where to find an inexpensive lab… some alternatives perhaps.
That’s it.
