Thank you Gary. The client agreed that the uploaded avi was the same quality that they would get if it was on tape and they had to capture it. The web is a good delivery system for :30 spots. I’m kind of surprised most broadcasters still want the videotape. I don’t do much commercial work but the web sure seems like a great delivery tool to me and saves a pretty good hunk of change from having to go out of house to get a Beta or DVC pro dub made (all I have is mind dv and dvcam stuff).

    thanks again for the input….Phil

If their DVD players are rather old, it is possible that they might have to go in to the actual DVD player settings under audio and choose a different format for playback. I had an older Toshiba unit that seemed like I was always having to go into the DVD player setup and choose between analog, PCM, digital or something like that.

  • If you have a camcorder that has pass-thru capabilties, that might work. I have occasionally used my Sony pd150 and feed s-video or composite input and audio from a vhs tape deck then take the firewire pass-thru output of the camcorder in to my sony dhr1000 deck and it will record the signal. It seems that camcorder somehow strips the protection.

Of course, it all depends on the protection scheme I guess. If you have a camcorder with pass-thru, it might be worth a try.
