I’m still running OSX 10.9.5 in order to ensure not breaking FCP 7, as well as some other decade-old software. There was a scare last weekend when it looked like InDesign was finally going to force my hand…crisis fortunately averted.

    Thanks.

I’ve decided to skip it for a couple of reasons, including reduced FPS in some sim apps and, frankly, the continued dumbing-down of the interface. Computers are not mobile devices and there is no reason that they should appear to be so.

Thanks, Mark. Yeah, I’ve a couple of clones going regularly in fact, so this wouldn’t be an issue. I was just hoping that someone or preferably several someones had already taken the plunge and could report back from the bleeding edge.

I was perfectly content with Snow Leopard until hardware failure forced my hand into newer gear that wouldn’t bloody run it. And each version of OSX since seems in various small ways to be stepping backward in user friendliness.

It may be Mavericks-related, but if so, why just those three SFX, not the entire bundle?

Luckily I’ve discovered that the effects are still available via the effects tabs–so they may be dragged and dropped onto clips. This is relatively cumbersome though.

    Cheers.

Hmm. QMaster pref pane also refuses to open.

    Activity Monitor reports:

    CompressorJobController not responding

    QmasterCC not responding

Fortunately both are using 0 CPU.

Unfortunately, the rest of the above.

Anyone know what might be going on?

FCP itself appears to work fine.

    MBP Mid-2012

    Cheers.

Hey Shane. I do have a Snow Leopard machine as well (not to mention the original G5 that FCP 5.0.4 is on currently), so presumably the installer would work on either of those Rosetta equipped options [edit: Rosetta not needed on the G5 obviously].

Bummer about 5.1 not being able to run in ML though.

eBay = $1,200, give or take. I was hoping for a substantially less costly solution…
