It seems to be simple to achieve.
    Thank you.

  • I had not deactivated the 32 bits install. I shall reinstall Premiere. Thank you.

  • As a matter of fact after I had disabled the firewire driver in the Control Panel/ System and reboot the computer, Windows has automatically reinstalled the Firewire driver as well as the Canon HV30 driver. Then my Canon camcorder went visible under the “Audio. .. games” section. However the HD option remains absent from the settings panel displayed by Premiere CS4 when you start a new project and the Export/Media options do not include any HD setting.

Could you please give further details on this method for editing
“..batch render to DV AVI and edit that way inside an HD project (using scale to frame, then replace with the original when you are done”
More specifically, how to replace DV footages by there HD “avatar”?
    Thank you.

  • Although I had installed the updates 4.1 and 4.2 without any improvement, I shall launch the Help/Update command and see what happens. Are you working with Windows 7 – 64 bits? Thank you.

As far as your Media Encoder problem is concerned I think that it is due to the fact that you have both CS3 and CS4 Premier installed on your computer. You can probably get out of this issue doing as follows:
Create a shortcut to the Premiere Pro executable file, rename the shortcut to Premiere, and move the shortcut to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclink (If you installed Premiere Pro CS4 in a location other than the default of C:\Program Files\Adobe, then navigate to your custom installation location.).
    1. Close all Adobe applications.
    2. In Windows Explorer, navigate to X:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
    3. Right-click on Adobe Premiere Pro.exe (which might appear without the .exe extension) and choose Create Shortcut.
    4. Rename the newly created shortcut to just Premiere.
Important: The name of the shortcut must be exactly Premiere with no other characters- sans extension.
    5. Open a second Windows Explorer window, and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclink.
    6. Move the Premiere shortcut that you created into the dynamiclink folder.

    -> Bob Dix
After testing different export format and settings I think I shall now export my movies as NTSC since it appears that there is practically no blur in this format and that my HD TV set can play NTSC HD movies notwhistanding that the current format in Europe is PAL. The older TV sets were unable to play NTSC otherwise that in black and white. Thank you for your help.

  • In addition to what I mentionned above I fill usefull to outline that the choppyness occurs about 10 seconds after the reading is started.

  • I am using mpeg 29.97fps clips and I also have the same problem i.e: “The audio tracks play smoothly, but the video either is choppy/stuttering or simply not playing at all.”
When I started my project everything was fine and the video was running smoothtly in the Program Monitor. I can imagine 1 cause among 3 at the origin of this trouble:
    1 – I have installed update 4.2 of my Premiere CS4,
2 – I have installed the Nvidia 196.2 driver for my GeForce 7600 GS video board to replace the driver installed by Window when I have move from XP to Windows7. But I have a doubt about this point since the video remains very smooth when played in the Source Monitor,
3 – my project duration (30 minutes) has became too long to be handled correctly by Premiere. In such case it’s a Windows7 lack of development since I had no problem with projects longer than 1 hour when using Windows

  • I also presently have this problem, it disappeared after I had reinstalled Premiere CS4 ( I am with Windows 7 32 bits) but it reappeared a few days after although I had not changed anything in my cam settings. Adobe says among other thinks the problem might be related to the PluginCache file and explains how to re-create this file:
“Some problems may be caused by a damaged PluginCache file. To re-create this file, hold down the Shift key while choosing Start > Programs > Adobe Premiere Pro. Release the key when the Select Initial Workspace window appears.”
In my case the procedure didn’t work; I don’t know which Windows 7 file is equivalent to the PluginCache file in Windows XP but I certainly have a problem with this file since Windows also stores the application preferences in it and I can see that some preferences that I correctly change are not saved when I re-open the project.
