Yes I think I used the wrong settings, and then realised I needed 60i to match my project settings and it worked perfect that time! So the project is back on and moving forward! woohoo!! Might be a bit late, but better late than never!

Haha!! Yes I’ve learn’t my lesson! No codec packs! I have found that if I paste a quicktime vid that isn’t working in my project, into a new project on its own, it plays perfectly fine. So I think this idea windows being limited to using so many quicktime vids could be true. So im going to slowly render all the quicktime and wmv clips into mxf files (which I think i’ve figured out now) and piece the project back together again.
At least now I have something, and I can continue on the project whereas before I had nothing to go on.
Thank you John and Steve for all your help and advice, You have really been a great help! Don’t know where I would have been if it wasn’t for your knowledge!
Really appreciate it, and I’m very thankful there is people like you out there, willing to lend a hand to people in difficulty!
Thank you so much 🙂

Well I un installed Vegas, cleaned up the computer, re installed and still have the same problem. I was thinking I could just convert all the video’s into something else and start again. At least then its a way forward to carry on with the project. Even if it does take time.
I did try to render one of the clips as an MXF but Vegas wouldn’t accept it back in to edit. Don’t know if i used the correct MXF template or settings though. So if I can’t use .mov and .wmv is no good, what format should I convert to?
Thanks again for all your help, can’t believe this has gone on so long!!

Thanks for the advice John, I will do a restore. Was just getting a bit desperate to sort this out as nothing else has been working!

H.264 I’ve seen a lot of people online saying Vegas won’t play .avi unless you download codec’s. I’ve downloaded the divx codec which was suggested and Klite codec, and none seem to have made any difference.

Hmmm, things are getting stranger! Vegas is now crashing A LOT!! And won’t accept my .avi files. Message pops up saying Vegas can’t open them. I think it may be time to just un install and re install and try again! My deadline for this video was tomorrow evening! Don’t think thats going to happen!

Thanks John, Worth a try! I’ll delete some of the .mov clips out of the project and them convert them to avi and see if it makes any difference!
Thanks,

Yousef, Im having the exact same problem! Didn’t seem to have problems until my last windows update. Don’t know if that has had something to do with it. But my project is doing exactly the same as you, and I have tried everything to no avail as well!! I’ll keep working at it, but if you come up with an answer, let me know!!

OK things are still bad, but things have slightly changed. Now im not sure if it was the update.
After realising there wasn’t anything I could do, I decided to start start the project again from scratch, thinking I could convert the quicktime video’s and start again in a different format. However I tried loading my quicktime vid into the new project and it worked! Played absolutely fine. Added a few more and they all worked fine. Rendered it down and the exported video played fine.
So went on to completely remake the project, however once I got to round about the same point as the last project, the quicktime vids stopped working again!! This time there was no update!
Im now wondering if its something else! Possibly a memory limit problem? Anybody have any ideas?

I have a selection of wmv clips and quicktime clips in my timeline, they were all trimmed down and working fine. Now since the update, when I play the project, the wmv clips show in the preview window, but the quicktime clips don’t show in the preview window and are just black. I rendered the project to see if it was just the preview that wasn’t showing the clips, but in the exported video every part of the video that was from a quicktime clip just goes black.
However all the quicktime video’s play absolutely fine in other video players, just not in Sony Vegas! It’s as if Vegas has just decided not to support quicktime video’s over night!!
