i know this question has been asked alot lately but actually i didn’t find anything that could solve my problem..

i am editing a music video and the files that i have is .MOV (H.264 codec) everything was running smoothly then suddenly the preview window became black..

some thoughts on the problem.. vegas originally has no problem with the codec and thumbnails are there on the timeline, sometimes the preview flickers black before turning black completely, if i restart vegas i can preview a minute or so then turns black again.. if i work for a longer period on my laptop (on other softwares..) then opened the project files again it turns black faster .. in a few seconds, i tried to move my media to my friends workstation and opened the project files it was black completely i couldnt preview any part of it.

i have tried some suggested solutions:

    -downgrading quicktime
    -disable re-sampling
-setting max ram preview to 100 or 0
-made sure the video was not muted
    -turned off GPU acceleration
-copying all media events to a new project

what im wondering since i tried to work from other computer and it didnt work.. is the project file corrupt by any means ?? if i tried to re-format my pc would it work again..

what is the solution for this problem.. its frustrating

Yousef, have you matched your Project Settings to the Media you are using? Unless you’ve said it, I can’t quite see if you’ve done that.

Sounds like a CODEC choking your previewing.

    Horrid . . . .

Could well be codec issue, but here’s something really easy to try and eliminate…

This may be completely irrelevant, but I remember when I began using mov files on Vegas Studio a couple of versions back, I had to make sure that QuickTime Player was set to run as Admin. Once I did that (and
possibly SVMS too), mov files didn’t mess up.

Yousef, Im having the exact same problem! Didn’t seem to have problems until my last windows update. Don’t know if that has had something to do with it. But my project is doing exactly the same as you, and I have tried everything to no avail as well!! I’ll keep working at it, but if you come up with an answer, let me know!!
