If you think your work stands up as a good piece of cinematography, film making, videography, call what you like, take it along and prove to the audience that it doesn’t matter what kind of image recording device or post production NLE system you have it is your own skills and experience that make it what it is.
I’m tired of the hype about new technology and this camera in particular, all digital cameras are an analogue device that turn light into a digital signal but the better your skills to work with the camera (lighting, exposure, framing, depth of field choice etc) the better the result. What’s his theory, you don’t need to spend years at film school and learning your craft anymore just buy “GREEN Camera” and edit on “Enthusiastic Cut Pro” and you’ll win an Oscar (and all film schools will close down).
If you are rock band don’t even bother making a clip until you’re famous enough to afford thousands of feet of 35mm film the processing and a full crew with Panavision cameras, because anything else will be inferior and the public will reject you on the grounds that your pictures were a little noisy.
I recently shot a commercial for client for whom I usually shoot with HDCAM or Varicam. The budget for this particular job was very tight, the final choice came down to a higher quality camera, my limited lighting kit in a house down the street or my JVC HD111 and a gaffer with lights in a studio. I chose the latter, thankfully my client is wise enough to realise what makes a good image, their agency client was happy and released the commercial nationally.
Sorry that’s more of a rant than a post, but be confident and demonstrate that skills are far more important to the end result than a big number like 4k.

An update on this.
You can download a Mac compatible version of Windows Media Player here;
https://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/mac/mp9/default.aspxUsing this for replaying wmv files created in Flip4Mac resolves the audio sync glitch that occurs in Quicktime replays.

A lot of the footage I shoot ends up being archived for stock footage in future edits or recuts so it’s better to shoot HD for when NTSC and PAL SD is gone.
I know film makers who have made documentaries from mainly historic footage, actually just watched one tonight on broadcast television called “Christian the LIon”. It’s also had 12 million plus views on You Tube.
Wonder if the film makers that were shooting 8mm film of young lion playing in a London garden thought that almost 40 years later the vision would be so useful.

There are issues with audio sync and Flip4Mac. Apparently only in Quicktime replay on a Mac though.
Try exporting the sequence as a self contained Quicktime movie and then using Compressor to convert that version. I’ve had a similar problem to yours at the end of a sequence when going to Compressor direct from FCP which was resolved this way.

If it’s only fluorescent lights that cause the problem it is probably to do with your frame rate or shutter setting on the camera.
Fluoros run at 60hz in some countries and 50hz in others. If you set your shutter speed to a different non sync speed you may see flicker.
If you shoot with a camera in NTSC mode or at 60i or p in a place where the electrical system is 50hz you will get flicker under fluorescent lighting.
To overcome this problem set a shutter speed of 1/100th (a multiple of 50(hz).If shooting with a PAL or 50i or p in a country with 60hz set a shutter speed of 1/120th.
It’s difficult to tell much from your vimeo link as it freezes after a couple of seconds.

Veescope live will allow you capture the 720p from this camera as a Quicktime. You won’t be able to capture live with FCP.

It has a few other features too, scopes and live chroma key.

October 14, 2009 at 9:22 pm in reply to: HELP! On-going problem capturing to FCP from my JVCHD100You don’t say what version of FCP you are using or what type of Mac.
If you are using FCP6 try capturing as ProRes. Here’s how https://www.steadi-onfilms.com.au/vlog/?p=61
If you are using a desktop tower and have second internal SATA drive use that to capture your media, if not and you are using an external firewire drive disconnect any other unnecessary firewire devices.
