Your system sounds fine – it seems that windows is not finding and connecting to your camera properly.
I do remember having to go through a routine when I first used my Z1 18 months ago to get the camera recognised – I’ll try and find where I got that advice from and post it …….

Just a thought – are you using the right capture app – (External for DV, Internal for HDV/SDI)

One thing is to increase shutter speed to keep that fast moving ball sharp – this will need plenty of light as you will need to compensate for fast shutter speed. Do some tests beforehand.

You have to drop it in the right spot – pick it up by thebar at the top and drop it over the left end of the docking area. A little trial and error may be needed, but drop in the right spot and it becomes one of the tabbed windows.

October 11, 2006 at 3:17 am in reply to: Is a 2.5 hr. DVD possible with decent quality? The only way to know for sure is to try it and see Ted. The quality will depend on the nature of the footage – the more moving, whether camera movement or background within the frame, the more the image will degrade at a low bitrate, but there have been reports of satisfactory results with 2.5 hours. Two pass may help, as this should concentrate resources where they’re most needed. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

View > Video FX or Alt 8.
You may have to drop it back onto the docked area if you want it there.

If you drop a solid colour on to a video event and choose “Add as takes” it will replace the event, then toggling with “T” will change back and forth from video to colour. This is an event by event operation – I don’t know if the Premiere function you mentions does all at once.

October 3, 2006 at 4:07 am in reply to: Vegas 7.0 Only audio loads in timeline when trimmingWhen you have dragged to make a selection in Trimmer, you can have Video only, Audio Only or Both – use the Tab key to toggle round these options.
(The problem was probably caused by exactly where (how high) your mouse was pointing when you dragged.)

May be to do with MPG2 Brian, but it may only be “apparently” out of synch during preview – have you tried selecting a short loop region then using Ram Render (Shift/B) If this is in synch, you should be ok when you render.
