Thanks Ed – I feared that was how it was.
Ah well, at least I have a complete transcript to copy and paste to region names.
Interestingly, when I tried copy/pasting two line text from Generated Media to Region name, only the first line pasted. It works fine from a Word doc though …Peter Wright

Use Save as then tick the box “Copy and Trim Media with Project.
Specify a new folder for this – you can also specify “handles” to allow you still to make minor adjuctments.
Once the copied version is finished, you can save space by deleting the original media files.

Only a guess, but the ability to read scenes from disc etc will involve a considerable new structure, so I’m not altogether surprised.
I would have thought it possible, however, for Sony media to have been given the blueprint for this camera ages ago. My technical division is constantly in touch with my creative team, but then again, they’re both me.

Mm – doesn’t sound like you’re doing too much out of the4 ordinary.
You say “had to change to PAL” – was the original footage shot in PAL?

1. To answer this, more info please. What settings do you use when capturing/rendering.
The other thing is that the quality of the finished DVD is also dependent on the quality of the footage. Vegas is extremely capable of producing good looking MPEG2 files.2. You can make it into a widescreen project, and use Pan Crop to match the aspect ratio. This will effectively cut off the top and bottom of your 4:3 frame, and the pic will have to be slightly scaled up to a full 16:9 frame, which will cause some amount of degradation.
3.If you are squeezed for space on the DVD then AC3 will be the best choice. For shorter projects PCM is slightly better quality. 5.1 surround is a whole new ball game and you need to design the audio specifically with this in mind. So none is the best – they are choices depending on your requirements.

It probably is to do with being unrendered, particularly if you’re using Best quality preview – quickest way to check is to do a quick RAM render – drag to select a short region then Shift B.

Doing it in Vegas has a few more options, notably dual pass encoding, but with the Custom tab you have control of many parameters.

– also, when you created the first Scene Selection, you should have had a pop up asking how many links you wanted per menu. If you had said 5, then DVDA would automatically have created a series of scene selection menus with links back and forth.

You never know, someone may have got some shots at the Vegas Party on Tuesday – it would be good to see a few faces behind the names …..
