Hello! This is my first post, so please be nice. 🙂

Okay, here’s the problem. I’m using Vegas 6.0d and previewing my video on a 14″ Toshiba television using the Pryo A/V link with firewire and S-video. No problem seeing my preview video on the TV, but there seems to be a little quirk.

When the video is playing normally (no effects applied), it looks great on the TV. (BTW, I have my preview set at Best (Auto)). But when I pan or crop, the preset changes from “Default” mode to “Untitled” and the picture looks unfocused. Same thing when I add text.

Now from what I’ve read in the forums, this seems to be normal and will be a non-issue once the video is rendered. Am I right? I have two short (45 second) video clips that I can render to test this theory.

    Thanks for the input!

It probably is to do with being unrendered, particularly if you’re using Best quality preview – quickest way to check is to do a quick RAM render – drag to select a short region then Shift B.

What if you go to Best (Full)?

Auto isn’t necessarily full frame size which could cause what you are seeing.

Preview Full will give you a better picture than Best Auto and play much smoother. But as Ed stated try Best Full as it will give you the closest image to what you’ll actually end up with other than the jerky frame rate. I have mine on Preview Full most of the time until I need to check the absolute quality of a picture.
