well it will and it wont.

I’ve done a keynote presentation using my MBP and a 30″ and it JUST about manages to do the 3d transitions that my macpro does but it does stutter.

I guess its working right on the edge of the graphics card capability.

We are working on one now 🙂

Problem is because we are using new technology from Apple, we end up finding all the bugs too 🙁
Some of the things we would like to do that are a great idea and seem easy are limited by how FxPlug is implemented.

If you want to know more, come and say hello on the Noise Industries at NAB

    Chris,

I do quite a few freebies for friends/students/charities/etc

The way I handle it is to have a regular dialogue about hours and money or rather make them worry about it as opposed to you. After all, you can always say you have paid work you can do instead.

I’ve also told the odd client that it was a waste of my time and their money because they haven’t logged the tapes properly.
Nobody is going to complain if you offer them a way of saving money.

Have you tried the old trick of slicing the clip in the middle in FCP, swapping the order and then doing a dissolve?

    Rubberducker,

There are a few ways of doing this

here is the harder but cheaper way

    1) Duplicate the text layer
    2) move the duplicate above the original and apply a glow filter
    3) draw a shape equal to that of the size you want highlighed – add a blur if you want a soft edge
    4) Add an image mask to the dupicate layer and drop the shape into the well

or if you would like a 15 day free trial of my Volumetrix filter that also does glow write-ons & highlights go here

  • CHL,

I have it from a reliable source that I just met in a dark underground carpark that an upgrade copy from the States should work with a European version of CS/CS2.

However, do not hold me or the unamed person responsible if it doesn’t work. If it does work though, let me know!

  • Gary,

I couldn’t agree with you more. I launched my volumetrix plugin when the pound was at its highest to the dollar for 14 years and guess what, I priced it in dollars.

The taxman sees me as a global company, all my sales and earnings are subject to sales tax at source and profits are taxed too. In this case why can’t I buy my software from the States?

Surely the cost of CS3 should actually be lower than the US price and lets face it, each item is just a DVD in a box with shed load of R&D to pay off.

As I said before this large difference will only encourage ‘software tourism’ (you heard it here first) and pirate copies
