You can do this easily in FCP with two video tracks & resizing one of them

yes make the layer that conatins the elements twice the width.

The free fxplug plugins are very safe – I wrote some of them!
FxFactory is also very stable, I think I’ve only ever had one crash in 9 months and believe me we have been doing some taxing/wierd things.here is a link to the 4 freebies

Just a quick word to say all Noise Industries plugins, Volumetrix and the Freebie Pack all work with FC6 & Motion 3
We will be demoing them all including the new Apple apps on the NI stand at NAB.
