Don’t forget you can right click on the keyframe button and choose what’s visible.

Doesn’t help with how many effects are showing, but you can make your workspace a bit more streamline if you don’t want the actual keyframes taking up space on your timeline.

    Hi Wick,

No problem, it won’t be until the PM tomorrow, UK time, but I’ll sort out a file for you to have a look at.

None of the blackmagic cards will offer any sort of acceleration for the type of work you’d be doing. They would only offer a way of monitoring on an external broadcast monitor/tv, which may not be of use to you if you’re producing for desktop computers. Even then the MBP may be a bit overkill for that task, I have bought one for editing, but before that I was doing more graphic work and purchased a Decklink HD for monitoring my graphics on a broadcast monitor.

Render farms, as Jason says would, speed up the render process, but not your working ability.

If it were me, I’d put the money towards a decent graphics card and plenty of RAM which would speed up your ability to work with less waiting around.

    Hi,

I don’t think the timing of the intermittent tone matters, it’s just so they’ve got something to differentiate between left and right.

For masters, the different tech specs I follow are usually the same as you mention, although I don’t know about adding commercials to the tape master.

    09.58.00.00 – Stereo Tone
    09.59.30.00 – Clock and ID
    09.59.57.00 – Black
    10.00.00.00 – Programme Start

For the break, the 10 second freeze frame is for any problems when they broadcast, just so they have a margin for error, but it isn’t included in the actual running time.

The 30 second of black in the break probably refers to the minimum amount of black they want between parts. So the next part of the programme would start on the next round minute BUT which also allows at least 30 seconds of black (not including the clock for the next part).

    For example…

    10.00.00.00 – Part Two Start
    10.12.35.00 – Part One End +10ff
    10.12.45.00 – Black
    10.13.30.00 – Clock and ID
    10.13.57.00 – Black
    10.14.00.00 – Part Two Start

But as I say that doesn’t include adding the actual commercials, I’ve never had to do that before.

Hope it helps and not added more confusion.

EDIT: Do you have the tech specs available as a pdf or something easy to view?

    Regards

Nevermind, I’ve just opened it up and seen the size of the video card fan.

No room for anything once the raid card is in.

    Hi Kristian,

There is no option for 50hz, but I’ve gone through the following list of resolution settings that are available under OSX 10.5…

    The following two work fine:

    720 x 486 29 Hz
    720 x 576 25 Hz

The following remaining options just give me a blank screen:

    1280 x 720 59 Hz
    1280 x 720 60 Hz
    1920 x 1080 23 Hz
    1920 x 1080 24 Hz
    1920 x 1080 25 Hz
    1920 x 1080 29 Hz
    1920 x 1080 30 Hz

Going back to 10.4 and trying the above settings again, I get a picture on all of them. I double checked the monitor manual and it lists all the above inputs as compatible.

    Hi Kristian,

Thanks for replying, anything playing from FCP to the monitor is working fine under OSX 10.5, whether it be DV all the way up to 1080 (BTW, I’m in PAL land if that makes a difference)

I don’t have time now as work calls, but I’ll have another go with it a little later, do a reinstall see if that jogs it all into working.

For the moment I’m working off the 10.4 version for now, but as I say that is using older BM drivers. I would upgrade the driver and try that out, but I’m reluctant to change anything while it’s working.

    Thanks again.

    Kind Regards
    Peter
