I am looking at the Multibridge Pro to replace an old component solution. I like the HDMI ports for future expansion and the B-O-B.
But the majority of my work is in After Effects incorporating 3D projects rendered in a TGA/alpha series and usually in non standard sizes (800x600p) for desktop viewing. Will the MB Pro accerlerate my workflow and can it (natively)render out in user-specified sizes & resolutions?
Since we are installing in a dual Quad-Core Intel workstation, what can I expect as far as install success, customer support and reliability?

Thanks for helping me learn from your experiences!

    Jon,

I hope someone with expert knowledge will chime in, but in my opinion the MBPro won’t acceletate your workflow. It doesn’t have any form of render acceleration – in fact, I don’t know of any card form any manafacturer now that does, save for the specialised renderfarm-in-a-box type ones.

If you’re working in the HD or SD video domain then I’d say it would be essential, and so far I’m extremely happy with my MBPro. It does everything I ask of it and does so without fuss. For your needs it sounds like some sort of renderfarm/acceleration would be most useful, and that’s beyond my ken….

None of the blackmagic cards will offer any sort of acceleration for the type of work you’d be doing. They would only offer a way of monitoring on an external broadcast monitor/tv, which may not be of use to you if you’re producing for desktop computers. Even then the MBP may be a bit overkill for that task, I have bought one for editing, but before that I was doing more graphic work and purchased a Decklink HD for monitoring my graphics on a broadcast monitor.

Render farms, as Jason says would, speed up the render process, but not your working ability.

If it were me, I’d put the money towards a decent graphics card and plenty of RAM which would speed up your ability to work with less waiting around.
