Well Peter. you can simply go to “window” and select “the Smoother” it will do exactly what you want. However you may find that the footage will “sit in” better with all the bumps as the contrast between smooth and bumpy footage maybe too much.

Thanks for your posts shane. I think you are onto something there…however I seem to reset all the settings in the deck in an earlier effort to use the internal conversions of the panasonicHD1200. The 720p lamp is off and I don’t know how to turn it back on. The machine room here is a mess and makes me want to weep with its tangle of cables.
I don’t know what more to say, I’m beaten.

  • well I have a pana HD1200A (hired not bought) but can’t navigate the menu system (or even undertsnd the manual) in order to get the right settings. Nor does FCP seem to suppourt 720p25 anywayz. Life sucks.

  • I too am desperately looking for a 720p25 codec too. Do you mean to say there isn’t one yet! What can you do then….
I hope someone has some insight too.

Right what I have done, which seems to work, is that I have put spaces (literally about 5 spaces with that bar at the bottom of my keyboard) between each consecutive number, so that it goes around the length of the path. Then I have also turned force allinment on. as the text is almost the length of the path anyway force allignment doesn’t have to stretch the letters out too much with automatic kerning. Hooray. I used the same number of dots as numbers and force alligned and everything pretty much matches up. Now I would like the stroke outline and the numbers to fall away.

Just an idea. I tried keying out a sky from stock footage. I had limited successs, but this is what I did maybe the technique will yield better results for you. I simply made a rough mask of the sky area, and then used curves and hues and saturrationto turn the are into a hi contrast balck and white image (you made a mask to get rid of the detail of the ground or whatever isn’t sky). Put a black solid underneath and precompose. Use this precomposed black and white as a luma matte for your original footage. I hope this helps, without seeing the footage its difficult to tell if its gonna work out for you. The tutorial about blemish removasl talks about making luma mattes and might be worth looking at.
