Apologies for what I imagine is an ignorant question, but why do you connect the iMac Pros to the QNAP 1282T3 via the 10GbE connections rather than via the Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gbps) connections?

I’ve had an LG ultra wide (flat) for about six months now and I’m ambivalent. Is having a lot of screen real estate great? Of course. But, is the extremely horizontal arrangement ideal? I’m not sure. There are as many times I curse my monitor for not being taller as there are times I bless it for being so wide.

When you add the stills to your timeline, you can select them (individually or en masse), and go to Inspector>Video tab>Spatial Conform and choose Type: None. It would be great if you could make this the default behavior, but I think it has to be done after the stills are cut into the timeline.

You don’t mention what sort of transitions you need, but on the off chance that it’s just dissolves, perhaps you could overlap the connected clips and ride the opacity levels instead. That way you could leave elements as connected clips (rather than promoting them to storyline status) and still have use of compositing modes, if you want ’em.

While it’s very generous of you to note that “genocide is a totally different matter”, as someone who lost family in the Holocaust, I have to say that your comparison is quite facile and deeply offensive.

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

    1) You can click on the tc in the center of the screen (is it called the ‘dashboard’ in the new parlance?), or hit Control-P, and then type either an absolute tc (such as “20000” for two minutes from the head), or a relative tc using + or – (such as “+10” for ten frames from where the skim bar currently resides).

    4) The direct export from FCPX can be ProRes, H264, MPEG IMX, DV, or DVCPRO50, but not DVCPRO100 (aka DVCPROHD). I would think you could use Compressor to take it the rest of the way, but I don’t know how this would impact the quality of your video?

    Hope this is useful!
