The product installer should indeed have placed the filters in the MediaCore folder for After Effects CS6 – do you have AE installed on a non-system drive, i.e., not on the C drive? Are you using the most recent installer from our web site? Exactly what product and version are you trying to install?

Hi Matt,

The product installers are platform specific, so you’ll have to download the Windows installer to install the Particles on your PC. You’ll also have to purchase another license to run them on another system.

Hi Jim,

Did the support person that you worked with have you fully uninstall Avid FX before moving forward with anything else? If not then I’d like to suggest that you please do this. Then, once you are certain that the product has been uninstalled, I would make sure to delete the preferences files for Avid FX. Next, Avid FX should be reinstalled using only the most recent and up to date product installer.

Once the product has been reinstalled as described, launch the Avid FX standalone and make sure that it’s operating as expected. Then open MC, start a new project and apply Avid FX to a clip. Make sure the product is operating as expected.

Only then should you go back to one of the preexisting sequences to see if they will work properly.

I’ll check with the support guys to get some more history on this but I would suggest following the steps that I’ve outlined here.

Hi Carlos,

I would recommend starting with the Optical Stabilizer – it’s the easiest and most straightforward way to handle this job. Just apply the filter, analyze the media and select the options from the Stabilize pop-up that you want. I’d recommend using the Translation + Rotation + Zoom to get a total lock-down. If you just want to smooth the camera move instead of locking the shot, then select Smooth instead of Stabilize from the Mode pop-up. Note that when you use Stabilize, you can set any frame in the clip around which the shot is locked. And if you use Smooth, then you set the range of frames for smoothness.

If you don’t manage to get the result that you want from the Optical Stabilizer, then you should use the motion trackers in the Motion Stabilizer.

Hi Carlos,

The short answer is yes. Note that there are two options in RED for image stabilization – you can use the motion tracker based stabilizer (Filters>Motion>Motion Stabilizer) or the optical flow based stabilizer (Filters>Time>BCC Optical Stabilizer). The optical flow based stabilizer (BCC Optical Stabilizer) will deliver the same result as the other filter you mentioned.

Hi,

Are you using the most recent version of Graffiti? If not then I’d suggest upgrading to take advantage of the many new filters that were added with the new version. If you are already using the most recent version, then you might consider either (a) upgrading from Graffiti to RED which includes all of the BCC 7 filters, many of the FEC filters plus a ton of additional compositing and titling features or (b) trying BCC and/or FEC in Graffiti. It would be much less expensive for you to upgrade to RED though … I think that upgrade is something like $699 but buying BCC or FEC would be $999 each or $1095 for both together. If I were in your shoes I’d upgrade from Graffiti to RED.
