Not that im an expert on fireworks recording, but when i have done it i followed the following

    1) i got permission from organisers to set up away from the 2 non required sound sources. People and music. Always up wind of music.
    2) I ran 2 stereo pairs. 1 was set at a much lower record level than the other.
When sync’d in post, when things get really loud and top out on my full level recordings, ive always got a non clipped version to dip across to for the minimum time possible.
    3) I use as much of a studio mic as possible, to get the bottom end. I recall i has 4 Neumann U87s. This creates problems in the field with wind and i had to use a lot of wind shielding to clean up the air around the record area and so not need to insert any horrible lf roll offs that would negate the arguement for using studio mics.

    Just thoughts.

There is a download you can search for on the sony website for the Sony ex1 clip browser. This might see and access your files.

    Ditto the last post.
Talk to your mixer and give him what he wants. he will have opinions. If he hasnt, get a new mixer.
Also be clear he wants a quicktime file for reference, not a quicktime reference file.

    AND
Phasing only becomes an issue when you mono up.

Im afraid your solutions are in the past.

    1) Recording in a large ambient space like a ware house resulting in reverb / echo. Dont.

    2) External noises such as your circular saw.! Stop until the bg noise can be controlled.

Im afraid if you read posts on this forum, this “removal” of unwanted audio and ambience is one of the most common asked posts. In a nutshell you cant do much about it. You could try applying an eq filter to see if decreasing the Lf will “lessen” the ambience. using more of the closer personal mic will surely lessen the reverb as it only picks up in a smaller area around the capsule.

There are removal tools like izotope rx that I like as they lessen external noise considerably, but are quite pricey. Depends how bad your problem is and how much you want it lessening (not gone) as to if youll shell out for isotope. (https://www.izotope.com)

Were your mics too far away?
Theres nothing wrong with big reverb in a big church, Our ears expect to hear this, if we can see the environment. Where it becomes a problem is if the mics are too distant. Always get your mics in close (a couple of feet) and for dialogue preferably within a foot.

But as Ty says, you cant get rid of it. Its like a cup of tea. if you dont want sugar in it, dont put it in, but you cant remove it later – (unless youre a molecular scientist) only make a fresh cup

This is what Genlock or ref vid is for.
You need to ensure (before you record) that the sound recorder and the camera(S) are running at EXCATLY the same speed. genlock locks them both to a video reference, or word clock will do it too.

The drifts across digital devices arent nearly as bad a in the old days of analogue tapes , and cassettes etc (laughs) but still over a long period there will be drift.

Another way of addressing this drift woukld be to accept the drift and place a cut between each song on the audio track and resync, and dress the joint.
Whatever way, you need specialised video edit softare for this. Id suggest AVID or Final Cut pro, or pro Tools has video capability built in .
    Good luck

as far as your discreets go. Does your discreet tracks have divergence mixed in to the lefts rights from the centre. If yes then the % will affect how much you put this centre into the LR.

    But

    Put Left – left
    right – right
Centre to left and right (note above)
Ls & Rs to L & R but decrease this level by @ -6 db. (YOU NEED TO FIND OUT IF THE REARS HAVE ANY PHASE REVERSE ON THEM. IF THEY HAVE THEY WILL PHASE CANCEL THE FRONTS WHICH IS DISASTER.
    remove the .1 sub.

    MONITORING
monitor the whole thing back in a stereo foldwown. Or listen to the stereo back later and adjust. Youre listening for any strange artifacts phase wise. Also be willing to re visit the levels of any elements to adjust.

Im not sure on your pull up for 25 PAL. id post this question to the Digidesign DUC regarding that as I dont know what ptle has in this area.

Id have thought you need a motherboard that natively supports multiple firewire streams.

How come youre doing the mix of a movie for replication without a proper sound dub??
    Sounds like madness to me.

Yes all dial goes centre ,and effects, ambiences, music can go left and right.
Whatever you do dont have 2 tracks of dialogue running at the same time both panned centre. Thats inviting phase issues.

Is this movie for DVD release or cinema release or what.?
