Id say try to capture digits if possible, that way you wont lose any more quality from what may already be a “not brilliant recording”

Which connection to use comes down to what your computer already has.
You can use either really coax or optical. Co ax (the phone sockets) is prob easiest as it will take an embedded stereo signal down 1 un bal phono. If your machine (or its perfiferal has aes ebu IO then you can use that 2 but youll need a phoneo to Mxlr cable (not very likely id not think.
The adapter to USB is a good option. I found the behringer U-control series good on quality for almost no money. Just make sure you get one with Optical or Coax (may be called SPdif) in and USB out.

NB remember if youre going digits, you must set your recording software to record the same sample rate and bit rate as the dats are.

Pro tools and audition will run on a pc.
It all depends on what you want really. Pro toolls might be a bit of a steep learning curve in the start, but you might already know your way round media applications so it might come naturally.

Do you have a professional need (ie is it worth spending money on)
Personally Id suggest Pro Tools. Others will be along in a moment to suggest other platforms.

I could hear him perfectly easily.
he doesnt say much about his sound kit at 1 min, other than to identify he has 2 radios (which happen to be sennheiser G1 old radios) and a beachtek vu control which is a metering device for his audio before it goes to the cameras. he mentions a manfrotto zoom demand (not audio) thats about it.

Are all / any screws in the design of the mic fully tightened. I have a sony rifle that had some loosened crews in its contruction that caused noise on movemnet.

Yes I do prefer iSDN, but am sure it will go IP eventually.

John, when youre doing adr etc via isdn, do you run picture controlled via ISDN both ends too?

Yes were a combined TV post and Tv production company, so work is spread across Tv commercials, radio , tv commissions and film work.
Some days more than that, some days less, but 6-8 sessions involving ISDN links would not be un typical. Many only last 5 mins or so.

I do about 6-8 ISDN sessions per day. The added cost of bridging services would be prohibitive. Ill just run the 2 SC and ISDN until i can drop isdn because it ceases to be needed.

Good poinmts guys.
Ive been demoing here too, and with a few UK studios (where it seems to be the IP solution of choice) but ive found that out buildings speed is just too poor and shared too many ways, so i need a better servicce provider in the sound studio before i can go for it properly.

Ive preferred it in stand alone mode rather than within pt (tried both)
I just prefer having the bussing and audio on my desk in a more traditional fashion (call me aged!)

JC One thing you mentioned, that id like you to elaborate on if you will. ISDN bridging etc.
How does that work and are you saying that with sc, i could potentially link to isdn only voices / studios like now. Who provides the isdn bridging service? Its it an added cost layer etc.
Im interested in this as my isdn codec has become a little tempremental in the last few months and im worried that itll die. Then im in a dilemma as to wether to replace with another as the uk hasnt moved to sc big time yet, but if i got sc and bridged then its the best of both worlds.
I need to understand more about this detail??

Good explanation from Andrew. Ill second a vote for PPMulator. Its the cheapest accurate device youll find. Dont know how of if it can be linked into audition tho.
