Just to add to my last post….
Today I was vision mixing and camera directing a stage presentation at a conference for live broadcast to the web.
Given my backgound as a post dubbing mixer, you can imagine I’m tricky to mix audio for!!!
The av sound guy looked at me like I was mad when during rehearsal I stopped the rehearsal and asked him why I was seeing faders open from the panel mics whilst the main pres was on. I explained that I only wanted the current speaker in the mix at any one time sitting on a bed of low but constant fx bed mics.
His day just got complicated
“How will I know who will speak” he said
When I direct them too I said. Watch the screens and listen to the cue feed….. Be in top of it , but I don’t want a mushy all up mix!!!
The point…. There’s a wide variety of experience and expectations outside of a studio. You should presume someone else will mess it up until they prove they won’t.

I dont know where youre from, but here in the UK we have an alternative.
Not fashionable, or even fitting with the worlds download for free culture, but we BUY a license.
Is say we buy, but should have said we “can buy” a license, as I fully appreciate that lots of people operating in this type of arena will just take their chance as previously stated.
A Limited manufacture license from the MCPS/PRS covers weddings programmes up to a defined number of minutes up to a certain amount of copies, before you go up into the next price bracket.
Legal problem solved.
Now all thats to decide is what yo do with the footage.
Personally I shoot the 1st dance and then about 20 mins of partying, cand cut this down to 6 or 7 mins across a couple or three tracks. Thats enough to show the partying into the night……..

You could always try the radio mic approach AND insist on the zoom as a backup.
Im ALWAYS very nervous where the audio recording on which you rely is an un attended recording.
Is the house mixer going to mic to the optimum levels for a recorder?
If it goes too low or high, is he going to respond to your recorder and adjust – I doubt it.

I too use the overcovers, even when under the covers.
Are you sure that the rustling was friction ON your mic, rather than friction of the fabric generally, that is being recorded by your mic.

I always use a fluffy overcover on both sides of the mic, and ensure that the top of the mic is also covered by a undercover.
I also tape a generous loop of the cable so theres def no pulling on the mic cable causing problems too.

its no level audio.

yes, sorry Id not grasped that.

Boosting a poor signal to noise recording will inevitably increase the bg noise as your recording is too near the noise floor.
why dont you post a short sample so we can hera the problem and seeif we can help with a fix.

why cant you just sync up the audio from your zoom in your edit system.
