Thanks for the response. Stephen, that is exactly the type of look I was after – I really like what you did with that – a fine piece of work.

    Thanks Gareth,

I read the thread – precisely my problem… Did you have success with using the emitter and motion path behaviour? If so, which emitter closely replicated a paint stroke look? How exactly did you get it to work?

I did try that – the font is a Live font – called flip count (flip clock is also the same). When I change it to white or sample with colour picker on colour palette it simply changes the whole letter and rectangular back to different colour variations. Perhaps there is some bug? I am using Motion 3 but I wouldn’t have thought this was an issue. I would have thought it was pretty straight forward as I saw on the tutorial.

    Andrew,

I worked out my problem… I had been doing the paint line as one complete line rather than a series of lines. I got it working using the technique you suggested. Thanks alot.

The actual loops are already there in the logo. I simply put a paint line over the top, coloured it black and then erased and revealed. I will have a go at doing what you suggested… I think I understand what you mean. Thanks. It’s just those cross over points when the loop backs onto itself which is causing the problem.

Thanks for that – as you can probably gather I am new to Motion… That will be very helpful.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for all your input and ideas…. as you have probably figured I am new to motion and am doing lots of trial and error at the moment. Both your insights have helped considerably. Thanks again. (By the way the screenshots of what you are talking about makes it so much easier to work out so thanks for those too).

    Hi Andrew,

Does the progressive allow you to control the timing… as the dates will be going at different times or do you simply modify these in the keyframe editor?

Thanks Gareth that is the effect I am going for….

I used key frames but ran into problems with the change of year to 1970 and then 1980 as I also had changed the angle of the text in z space so it sits on an angle back into the screen – this caused the scale of the decade column and years column with the numbers to change…and not look correct. I started with 1960 as a single text box in the middle of a tv screen and then zoomed into the tv and as I got closer the 1960 “peeled” back on an angle…this is where I couldn’t figure out how to cross over from the single text box to the current set Up with the 3 columns… Hope that makes sense! Sorry for teh long winded explanation.
