2 remaining questions:
1. I thought I experienced performance slowdowns with the Ultra Key filter as well. Can you confirm that?
2. What is the best way to revert to Version 7.1? Uninstall and reinstall? If so, how will I know to stop at 7.1?”

1. I’ll look into the Ultra Key effect. It didn’t test all effects so that could be the case.

2. Here’s how you can roll back to a previous CC version.

Step 1: Click on the link below and go to photoshop download page. Once the page is open do not click on anything and go to step 2

Step 2: Click on the link below to initiate the download of Premiere pro CC (make sure that the Photoshop elements page is open)

For Windows:(Click on each link one by one and once all the files are downloaded open the .exe file to begin the installation)

Step 3: Once the program is installed go to the link below and update manually.

Hi Joe,

We are aware of the performance issues that were introduced in version 7.2 with certain AMD GPU cards. The 6750 being one of them.

We’re investigating the problem now.

I know this is not ideal but in the mean time here’s a few workarounds:

– Revert back to 7.1

– Disable GPU acceleration

Here’s a list of effects that seem most problematic:

*Fast Color Corrector
*RGB Curves
*ProcAmp
*Edge Feather
*Lumetri Looks effects

These effects do not appear hinder the performance in my testing:
*All Blurs Effects
*Three Way Color
*Crop
*Garbage Mattes
*Levels

Again, I apologies the the inconvenience.

If you updated from CS6 to CC you will need to uninstall and reinstall the Blackmagic driver. This will place the plugins in the correct directory.

If August is simply trying to view his 4k material on a HD monitor the TTAP will do that.

If you set the output format in the AJA control panel to a HD format you will see your 4k Premiere sequence as 1080p in your output monitor.

Even though the GeForce GTX 780M isn’t officially on the supported GPU list, you should be able to enable it. This is new to Premiere Pro CC 7.0 and newer versions. You will get a message saying “This card is not supported” but just click OK and your good to go.

If you don’t see CUDA acceleration as an option make sure you’ve installed the CUDA driver.

Matrox and AJA both downscale on the fly. You can check out the TTAP by AJA and Matrox makes a thunderbolt adaptor for the MX02. They may also have something newer.

The AMD Radeon R9 290 Series has been added to the OpenCL supported card list for Premiere Pro 7.2.1.

Premiere can indeed export progressive files. I’ve included a screen grab so you know I’m not lying 😉
