    Hi, thanks for the reply
What do you mean by ‘bring’ the footage to motion? I normally use the send to option, save, and return to fcp.

    Thanks

Thanks mate, have filled out my profile.

So just to make sure.. I imported to compressor and used the pro res 422 codec to convert. Do I need to change anything else?
I think pro res is 10 bit isnt it?, so do i need to have frame controls on?

    Thanks

    Thanks Rafael

The Dvd is SD and the finished product is about 15 minutes.
By data rate do you mean the bit rate?
I was under the impression you should aviod going over 6.5/7.9 because it may not play on some dvd players.
This is to be distributed to around 3000 clients so I dont really want to risk that.

    Hi all

Ive recently finished a project shot on HDV and 720p and burnt to dvd
I worked under a HDV50i codec, I rendered with best settings with high precision YUV, and compressed using compressor 2pass 6.5/7.9.

Problem. The finished DVD looks O.K but It is noticable(especially in scenes with motion that peoples faces and skin tones look ‘cartoonish’
ie, if you were to make a face in photoshop using the colour brown then add shading areas with a slightly different shade of brown and then blur the two. comprende?

Theres no filter or anything like that applied and its not ridiculous but it is noticable.

Is this maybe the limitations of shooting HDV and mpeg compression or Am I doing something fundamentally wrong?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks Jerry.

    One more question,

When I open my project files ive sent to motion and back with titles are offline. I reconnect them and the titles appear but the footage is missing- replaced by red checkers…

    What files are missing?

    cheers

    Pete

Hi thanks for your quick reply

Yes my original footage is digibeta which was transferred to apple pro res hq by a pro editing house.

I’ve been editing this ‘stock footage’ and am being delivered the bulk of the footage in a week or so which is shot on a canon hdv camera as 1080i 16:9 and handed to me as apple pro res hq also.(I pressume the pro res codec is best since thats what im originally working with.

Since im only in the very early stages of editing (and i can change my workflow I guess I should just ask you what is the best workflow I should go for to edit my ‘SD pro res footage together with my canon hdv pro res footage in order to end up with a project that is 4:3 (destined for DVD). And can you please tell me…aswell as the project/sequence settings that will best achieve this result..- will I need do do any manual scaling of aspect ratio or letterboxing of any or my footage to achieve this final result?

    Thankyou!
