    Hi all

    Ive been given some S.D 576X 768 H.264 footage to make a 30sec add for T.v.
Now it is my understanding that this is a codec for playing on a computer etc but not really suitable for high quality T.V ??????

wHAT SHOULD MY WORKFLOW BE for editing this, ie will it be better to dump in into a 10bit uncomp timeline and spit it out as current settings or am I stuck with this codec?

    Or Am I completelly wrong

    Thanks.

Use one of the advanced format conversion presets in Compressor and convert to ProRes.

BTW, I’m just guessing that you are using FCP version 6. Since you have not bothered to fill out your profile, it’s impossible for those of us trying to help you to know what you’ve got. Pretty soon you won’t get any more responses…

    [peter crawford] “S.D 576X 768 “
If you intend to print your clip to video to be broadcasted, think that you are using non standard size.
You need set your sequence 720×576.

Sorry, right you are. I meant 720 by 576.

Thanks mate, have filled out my profile.

So just to make sure.. I imported to compressor and used the pro res 422 codec to convert. Do I need to change anything else?
I think pro res is 10 bit isnt it?, so do i need to have frame controls on?

    Thanks

You should be good to go without any changes. Yes ProRes is 10-bit.
