    Hi,

I know this is probably the most basic of questions but…

Ive not had final cut that long, and ive done lots of upgrading and shifting files to different drives etc.
I know that prior to a big project you should put EVERYTHING into the same project folder, but alas with Some of my first projects ive worked on I havent done this.

I’m about to dump my hard drive to external and heres my question…

Do render files, autosave vault, waveform and cache etc etc have to go with the project also or are these deletable?

Also Can someone tell me how to use media manager to get rid of unused media from my scratch disk/projects.

    Thanks heaps

The files you list can be deleted, but you’d have to re render, and you’d have no autosaves to go back to in case that’s needed. The other files, just rebuild themselves when you open FCP.

If you select a sequence, then open media manager, you can use MM to delete unused media, and create a new project file which references this newly truncated media…

    Thanks Jerry.

    One more question,

When I open my project files ive sent to motion and back with titles are offline. I reconnect them and the titles appear but the footage is missing- replaced by red checkers…

    What files are missing?

    cheers

    Pete

Not sure what’s happening.. if you export the motion projects as QT movies, are they still offline?
