Thanks michael, yeh i guess im so used to thinking and shooting in 50 all the time due to living in pal land, but like you said i guess it doesnt make a difference aside from gaining extra frames to slow down with.
So youd use 60p with a 120 shutter?
What do you think about over cranking in camera?

Thanks steve, yeh thats a fair point, do you get just as nice results resizing and exporting inside the edit as opposed to resizing in say compressor first?
Thanks

Thanks mate, awesome
The article says that -2 0r -4 detail levels are
the way to go for general shooting but do you happen to know if when shooting green screen material if I should turn the detail off or right down to -7 or if their recommended ‘general’ settings would be a nice happy medium. I,ve read that you should turn detail off completely for green screen work but I dont want it to look too soft. Thanks again

Hi , Thanks heaps for the quick reply,
No the background doesnt really change just the foreground orchid ‘blooming’
Unfortunately the background is red/maroon which is very similiar the the flower itself.
The file is also 1 minute 15 sec long so especially being new to rotosoping I shudder to think how long this would take me.
I tried a test in FCP using the difference matte you suggested, but I think I am doing something wrong…
I exported a still image of the file to photoshop, cut out the orchid and clone stamped the backgound, then impoted back to FCP
I then put my main primary footage into the top timeline and the still background on the bottom. I then applied a difference matte to the main footage.
The result was simply the background, so I inverted which didnt seem to do much.
I would like to end up with simply the orchid doing its thing with a keyed background.Ill try to upload an image

Thanks mate,
so is is better to capture in pro res or simply capture in say DV OR HD and then use compressor to convert to prores before starting your project? -
Hi, In regard to to this article, If SHOOTING 1080 50I is it best to capture it as SD 720x 576, or capture in the correct format, set up a SD pal timeline and drop it in and let FCP downscale, or capture and edit in 1080i then somehow downconvert to SD pal(how would I do this last one?
Would Really appreciate your feedback, pleeeeeaaaassssee!
