Yes I’ve already read your review Helmut. Very nicely done. It’s a tricky point in time to be purchasing a 2/3″ camera. I still believe they are incredible useful.

I’m having trouble too picking up on Avid. I’m a short-term FCP and long term Adobe user, and I’m finding Avid… well, clunky. The old-DOS style font GUI, file import procedure and clunky titler haven’t blown me away at all. I’m going to persist as I really want to learn MC6.0 (bought it in the crossgrade offer), but so far I’m not seeing a viable alternative to CS5.5.

I’m assuming it is like upgrading FCP or CS5; you will have to enter the FCP serial to allow installation of Avid to proceed. Or it could be in the registration process. You register and you get an unlock key. I don’t think it will be a problem.

[Sam Cole] “[Peter Corbett] “with free delivery”
Shipping to Australia is not free – $88.95″

We have an office in Houston.

With shipping to Oz, my understanding is GST is only applied on the product price, not the shipping. Best to check on the customs website.

November 7, 2011 at 3:26 am in reply to: ultra scopes 1.5 not showing gamut

[Robbie Carman] “Thanks Hersh and Joshua for your updates. (Joshua I just responded to your email).

After Luke informed me about the profile tie-in, now gamut highlighting it does indeed work for RGB however I still can’t get the highlighting to work for out of gamut luma. I’ve restricted my profile to 100 IRE played with sensitive settings and even if trace is clearly above 100IRE its not being highlighted RED. Granted it does show up in the log and I can clearly see that its out it would be nice to have that highlighted back.

    Robbie Carman”

I’m still searching for an answer to this one. It seems the gamut warning in red is gone in 1.5.

I just bought the 5.5 crossgrade yesterday from Amazon/Adorama for $926 with free delivery. If anyone wants 6.0 at a way cheaper price, I suggest they snap up a copy of the old 5.5 FCP crossgrade before they disappear.

October 28, 2011 at 4:55 am in reply to: No transition plug ins for Premiere??!!

Yes the lack of decent soft transitions is pretty bad.

But a worse situation for Mac users is that under Lion, the eyedropper function is completely broken and does not work on ANY effects including native Adobe or Boris that require colour-sampling, whether it be chroma keying or any type of colour correction. This was discovered weeks ago but still no fix for 5.5.1

I updated Ray which I think caused problems. I’m in LA shooting an ad at the moment but when I get back to the studio next week, I’ll do a full reinstall.
