avi is just a containter, like mov. Yes, you need to convert it to an PPro acceptable avi or mov or MPEG (like you have), in order for it to read and process properly. I think you nailed the problem, however, can you just isolate that segment and put it on a different sequence, render it out to dv avi and then import it back to the final sequence?Perry

I suspect the problem might come from 2 places. Can you try to export using MS DV avi instead of the lossless codec to see if same happen? Second, I am not sure the 7.0 version is the same as PPro 1.0. It should say PPro 1.0 or it may not legit, and that might be the problem? (I am just running out of idea).Perry

Are you sure there is nothing else applied to that portion of the clip? Check to see if size property of the motion has been applied. If not, then, this is definitely not normal. Which version of Premiere you have? What is the original video source format anyway, i.e. codec?

The problem you described seems inconcievable to me. Just to clarify: when you export the movie as avi, what size of avi you define that as (look at the export setting)? BTW, are you saying 1. you export a movie say 10min long, 1 min of it has some acceleration or decel, that min portion of the 10min movie strinks in size? Or 2. are you exporting 2 different avi files and they are in diff size? Or 3. are you exporting that 1min and compare to the original avi, they are different size?Perry

Only think you can do, if it is not too late already, is to send your HDD for professional recovery services, which costs $$$ for each incident. There are also softwares out there that claim it can reclaim such accident-deletions, but their software cost much as well.

I did try 64 bits briefly, PPro works just fine, I don’t quite notice much performance enhancements, but again, I just experiment with it briefly. Please report back your experiences.
