Thanks, will it be smart to invest on the SATA Expando Chassis from Maxx Digital, or is the technology moving in a new direction soon?

    Hi Sara,

I’m doing some search on this one: PANASOnic DMR-ES35V, but one thing I’m finding out is that we need to make sure that they record both, 4×3 and 16×9 ratios. Some of the older models only did 4×3.

Sure Sara, but mind you that I am looking for hardware that creates files not dvd’s. If all you need is a quick dvd of your fcp sequence and you don’t have to wait for all the compression time, you can send it directely to a dvd recorder and record on the fly.

what I’m looking for is something like the dvd recorder but instead of dvd’s, it makes quick times or other digital files. Just like if you have another computer and use quick time pro as to take the out of your fcp computer.

I’m checking out the good advise so far we got to make files on the fly.

    thanks John,

Believe or not, I just bought a few tracks last week from Los Angeles and when I tried to use them in a home video I’m cutting with fcp, it rejected them. You go figure.

    thanks,

I got itunes 7 and I can only convert files to AAC files which are still protected. The AIFF option is new on the latest version I guess, right?

Oh, I see, interesting how many don’t have it but others do. I guess at this point, for legal reasons, nobody will be able to advise in how to convert them to just edit home videos.

What I meant is the software call time compression I believe, is that a good way to do it? I do carbon copy will be good for me and I’m educating myself with some research, thank you for the tip. I just happen to have the time compression one but never used it and I’m wondering if anybody thinks is good for this kind of service.
