First of all, I am getting into the routine of searching my questions prior to posting. Nothing came up with my subject, so here is post.

Is there a limit on how many external drives you can connect to your computer and make sure fcp will work properly with them?

I remember hearing about bandwidth issues if you have a few big drives chained.

    best,

P.D.: thanks to all for the help offered in other subjects.

If you’re talking about daisy chaining Firewire Drives, generally no more than four.

If you’re talking about something like the SATA Expando Chassis from Maxx Digital, you can put 128 drives in a chain with no drop in speed.

Thanks, will it be smart to invest on the SATA Expando Chassis from Maxx Digital, or is the technology moving in a new direction soon?

Safe to invest in Maxx Digital today. The future will be solid state drives. That will be many years away.

Technology is always moving. I always plan all of my investments to be replaced in two to three years max.
