Thanks for the inforamtion very helpful, but if l can add. once l have completed my edit and finalise the edit and export to quicktime file for the next steps, compressor etc.

l capture and edit in Pro res 422HQ 10bit, finalize edit, can it be exported as a dvcpro HD file to be broadcast on a HD channel that uses DVCPro HD work flows?

if l use H.264 for web, whats the average file size to keep it good for broadcast using Streambox as my portal (if you know that software)and if l use compressor you-tube is there better settings to use than this?

I have one question relating to DV if you may know please?

l shot at times in DV in the field and edit in the field. time-line and capture are dv pal, export to quick time once edit finished whats the best compression rates to use for FTP file transmitting using streambox. Al the FTP transfers are for broadcast in International News?

we have some presets that we use but quality could be better for transmission if you have any ideas and help l am listing

Hi All and thanks for the great information and advice

as to file format whats best to keep it as a MPeg-4 or something else, when l have used FTP for work its always MPeg-4 but is there something better for Web sites and also the Web site you have all mentioned?

I have been told Flash but l have no idea about web design and programs with whats works best???

Example’ Export FCP Edit as Quicktime to Compressor and output as???? or do l have it all backwards

as to the internet question l wanted to be able to send the shows reels via an email so email it to them whats the best quality and output for that

Thanks for all the advice, Panasonic use HDV1080i format have been using it since 2003

But the questions not answered are

1.what the best (when finshed edit export to ? what format fror Web site use for my show reel

2. whats the best format for over the internet to send the show reel

will do that, can l ask though as an output compression output from FCP whats the best for Web site video and the best for email sending of the show reels. Flash for Web and MPeg-4 for email or file transfer???????????

would the edit time line in FCP be also Prores HQ or normal does it matter same question applies to the VOB conversion HQ or normal Prores is there a big difference? whats the best.

can l get the Vo and Nat sound to be 2 channels l only want the Nat if possible????

Thanks for that information, sorry for late reply’s to my question time difference, please let me fill you in on the footage.

the problems l am having is the footage which l filmed was from 2 camera’s, either HDV1080i Sony FX1 or Panasonic HDV 1080i full size camera. all NTSC Cameras

the Edits where done in the states but not by me, l have tired to get hold of them, to find out the editing information Don’t think l will be able to, so l am unsure other than a HDV capture from there ???? ( unsure of there time line?)

the Company that sent me the DVD’s was USA Company HDNet if any help

the DVD’s l have already have had TS.VOB files made and are
on my Hard drive but l also have the DVD’s as well for use.

the information of VOB files are

originally filmed on Sony HDV-FX1 1080i
VOB stream information Original Edit time line UNSURE

128ACS 2/0, 48KHz, 384Kbs

originally filmed on Panasonic HDV1080i Full size camera

near all the VOB files are this way in VOB stream infornation give or take a few frames Differences

So from what l have available to use at this stage is only the DVD’s and the VOB files l have already made from the DVD’s , from this l want to make a show reels of the the Footage and also have available web links to this footage on my web site, and if need be, Be able to send as DVD (if quality will be OK)

Questions.

1. l have tired the Proress 422 hq and also normal but still get interlacing in the time line l have tried 8 and 10Bit., Whats the best way out of the VOB file for me for my use and finished edit compression once l have edited.

1a Whats the best FCP7 Time line setting to work in with all of this.

1b Whats the best web format to put the finished Edit into for a web link and use on my web site???

2. whats the best format to be able to send a 3 to 4 minute clip via email ( after edit)

4. how do l get ride the interlacing?

5. Audio tells me 2 channels if there a way out to get either the VO or Nat sound only

6 is it bad to edit with the VOB straight in to FCP 7?
