I think I have figured how to resize by changing the scale of the material tag applied to the light,
but have found a slightly odd thing: I want a single projection of the video – as default the material tag is set to tile – when I switch this off the image disappears. Any ideas why?

Amazing, thank you very helpful.
At the moment I can see that there is an animation there, but it is relatively much bigger than the light beam, do you know how I would go about scaling the animation in the transparency channel? Also could you give an indicator about how I might square off the spotlight shape so that it is not round?
Many thanks

Thanks Adam
does it make sense to include a host of individual modelled peas, or would this kind of dynamics work with a cloner tool?
Thanks

Thanks Brian,
Can I ask about the basic strategy to make a scene like this. I am looking eventually to output it as video, but there won’t be any movement, just playing with lights.Â
Would it be crazy to do the following in order to get the peas and carrots into a believable arrangement before turning the camera on:
model several pea shapes and several carrot shapes, duplicate them, so that there is the required amount. Give them collision tags. to then drop them, from some kind of container, into a bowl, so as to get a realistic arrangement of the vegetables, including randomness.
I can imagine that there are ways to do it with array or cloner objects. But I still want as much as possible, to give the sense of difference between the peas.Â
Many thanks Â

Sorry, just to add, that it is important that circular holes are generated allowing light to shine through etc.

Also could you give a little more guidance as to the name of this process? as I have not used audition before
many thanks

Thank you so much – it is such an obvious command that has been staring me in the face but it really really has solved my problems. the results are incredible. thank you thank you

Thanks for this – although there is still the problem of generating a shape/path from a raster file – although it could be conceivable to write an action in photoshop that loads each frame selection and makes a path –
but this leads to a problem of how to bring together many paths into one keyframed/roto path??
perhaps the answer lies back in motor/mocha which can export shape data but not to after effects – only to combustion/flame/shake
does anybody know of a work around with this? I am not familiar with these applications??

There must be a way to deal with this – there just must be – all of the information other than the calculated vector line is available
just to confirm again – I would like to use the silhouette of a moving figure to trace the figure’s outline and use this outline as a motion path for a light beam effect.
Perhaps I am complicating it somewhere along the line?
I recently bought Shine and Form – but have spent most of my time in Form – can you briefly explain what it can do for alphas??
