March 4, 2013 at 5:28 pm in reply to: Can I continue to use my PVM and BVM monitors with Resolve?I think the L4 is SD only. I think the L5/1 was the 23.98 capable one, and you probably have to test to see if it works as I believe model number plate does not clarify. As for the bvm, google for manuals.

March 3, 2013 at 7:41 pm in reply to: This is basic. Send 23.98 sequence from Fcpxml, Resolve sends 24.0 XML to fcp7.Ok so Resolve is changing the xml ntsc/true flag to false on import into resolve then.

I had a pvm 20 L5/1 and it worked great with an HD analog component signal in 1080 23.98 or 30i.
otherwise you need the hdsdi card which is as rare as a unicorn.
but you will be working in a proper 709 color space with good contrast if your tube isnt shot.
my pvm had an auto calibrate function that you could activate while feeding bars and tone – worked pretty well.
you could also get a tech to set white balance if you know someone locally. sony in LA would do it for $100! it wont drift enough to make it unusable btw…http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

March 1, 2013 at 6:36 pm in reply to: This is basic. Send 23.98 sequence from Fcpxml, Resolve sends 24.0 XML to fcp7.when you look at your list of resolve projects in the home window, does it say it’s a 23.98 project or 24?
this is where I’m seeing the discrepancy. am only able to get it to be a 23.98 project if I deselect “automatically set project settings and let the project preferences set the framerate.
I just looked at a list of several dozen projects in my old postgres database (I have switched to disk database recently) and they all are 23.98 projects… except for a couple that do say 24. so this is not new and I missed those couple when it happened – must have rendered out 23.98, round tripped back to fcp7 and it must not have been a problem.http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

March 1, 2013 at 6:02 pm in reply to: This is basic. Send 23.98 sequence from Fcpxml, Resolve sends 24.0 XML to fcp7.The xml FROM fcp7 is correct at 23.98. resolve seems to be converting the 23.98 xml into 24 on import
EDIT: I’m now confused. the sequence settings in FCP7 say “editing timebase 23.98”.
the exported fcp7 xml says “24 ” when viewed in text editor.
these used to import into Resolve as 23.98 timelines when you set “automaticaly set project settings”
now if you do that, the timeline in resolve says 24 framerate (although it does let you render out at 23.98.http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

March 1, 2013 at 7:02 am in reply to: This is basic. Send 23.98 sequence from Fcpxml, Resolve sends 24.0 XML to fcp7.I’m suddenly seeing 23.98 XML from fcp7 importing into resolve as 24. This is new. I now need to set up my project and then on import of XML, deselect “automatically set sequence setting”.
I’ve done a few tests and its consistent. Don’t know if its 9.1.1 or what, but I’m on a feature and have not had time for further tests. Really troubling in the back of my mind though.http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

No that was scraping by at raid 0, but there were a couple issues so I probably could have done a little better. Not my usual config. Yeah I would think you’d want a big fiber setup for sure. 4k dpx is no small feat

I just did a commercial with phantom .cine in resolve
I built a 16 drive sas (2 x 8 bay on a hpt rr 2744 and was barely able to do quad hd dpx 10 bit)
I have a decklink 4 k but have not yet fed it to a 4 k display (nab might change that)I don’t see why I couldn’t play back 4k r3d on my Mac through it though
Dual redrocket should get you 5k r3d
Looking at fcpx for 4k online, titles etchttp://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

Well I tried media express and same issue. Sony pvm oled sees 444 3G but it is green, pink like it is getting one Chanel only. So Sony monitor does not like the decklink 3G.
One note is if signal is 59.94 hd in resolve Sony sees 3G fine, but it displays it is yuv 422http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA
