3G from decklink to monitor – does it work?
Posted by Paul Provost on February 20, 2013 at 11:46 pmI have been trying to send a 3G signal (444 RGB 23.98) from Resolve to my Oled pvm 2541 using decklink hde3d+, and now the new 4K. No Luck. Single link, using 4.5Gig rated cable, monitor is capable, is supposedly level B 3G like Decklink, blah blah blah.
has anybody ever gotten 3G out of a decklink at all to anything? ever?http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

February 21, 2013 at 1:24 amYep, no problem here with a Decklink Extreme 3D. Going out via 3G 444 at 23.98 works fine going to a JVC Monitor and to an SR-Deck.
I presume you’ve set the 3G option in the card’s preferences, right?——

February 21, 2013 at 1:41 amWell the davinci guys say Resolve prefs override decklink and to leave those alone. But setting those does not help. What program are you using to play out to sr deck?

February 21, 2013 at 2:33 amDepends. Done it with FCP and Gluetools in the past, not often on Mac anymore these days. Media Express (DPX) and Avid (DnxHD 444) most recently.
Try Media Express and set your Deckling prefs to use 4:4:4. Using that setting my JVC imediately switches to 3G 4:4:4 when I open Media Express. If your display has a signal indicator you will know that it gets the connection and you can troubleshoot from there.——

February 21, 2013 at 4:12 amThanks guys. I’ll try media express again and use decklink prefs. Frank are you choosing both use 444 and use 3G?
What I’m getting in all my test are the pink n green image like one side only of dual link.http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

February 22, 2013 at 3:53 pmWell I tried media express and same issue. Sony pvm oled sees 444 3G but it is green, pink like it is getting one Chanel only. So Sony monitor does not like the decklink 3G.
One note is if signal is 59.94 hd in resolve Sony sees 3G fine, but it displays it is yuv 422http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

March 22, 2013 at 4:57 pmsure it could be. maybe defective sony pvms. I got mine June last year, so should have latest firmware. Sony tech support (who is almost impossible to reach, takes days of phone calls and left messages and hours of hold time) were of no help whatsoever. they just read the manual back to me and said it should work.
