March 1, 2013 at 6:01 amCan you check the conform rate in the project settings and the deliver page is set to 23.976?

March 1, 2013 at 7:02 amI’m suddenly seeing 23.98 XML from fcp7 importing into resolve as 24. This is new. I now need to set up my project and then on import of XML, deselect “automatically set sequence setting”.
I’ve done a few tests and its consistent. Don’t know if its 9.1.1 or what, but I’m on a feature and have not had time for further tests. Really troubling in the back of my mind though.http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

March 1, 2013 at 5:17 pmI have noticed this also. A workaround is to import the XML from Resolve into FCP – it comes in 24 fps. Create a new sequence at 23.98, then cut and paste all of the shots from the 24 fps sequence into the 23.98 sequence. Seems to work, especially if you rendered at 23.976 in Resolve.

March 1, 2013 at 5:48 pmThanks everyone. I haven’t been in front of the machine to do any more tests.
So, it does seem like a bug or at least an inconsistency.
I was wondering if I could modify the sequence frame rate in the XML by hand before import, or something crazy like that.
So, even if the sequence set to 24.0, the rendered clips still seem to be 23.976. If copying and pasting, does the timing change at all for you? It seems to do so for me.

March 1, 2013 at 5:50 pmI thought it worked for me. Since the footage was 23.98. I would have to open up the project I did it on.

March 1, 2013 at 6:02 pmThe xml FROM fcp7 is correct at 23.98. resolve seems to be converting the 23.98 xml into 24 on import
EDIT: I’m now confused. the sequence settings in FCP7 say “editing timebase 23.98”.
the exported fcp7 xml says “24 ” when viewed in text editor.
these used to import into Resolve as 23.98 timelines when you set “automaticaly set project settings”
now if you do that, the timeline in resolve says 24 framerate (although it does let you render out at 23.98.http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

Correct.
I was hoping I could modify the outgoing XML. The incoming seems fine.

March 1, 2013 at 6:36 pmwhen you look at your list of resolve projects in the home window, does it say it’s a 23.98 project or 24?
this is where I’m seeing the discrepancy. am only able to get it to be a 23.98 project if I deselect “automatically set project settings and let the project preferences set the framerate.
I just looked at a list of several dozen projects in my old postgres database (I have switched to disk database recently) and they all are 23.98 projects… except for a couple that do say 24. so this is not new and I missed those couple when it happened – must have rendered out 23.98, round tripped back to fcp7 and it must not have been a problem.http://www.4Kfinish.com | owner-colorist | Hollywood, CA

March 1, 2013 at 10:12 pm[Peter Chamberlain] “Can you check the conform rate in the project settings “
Once it’s setup, it seems I can’t change the frame rate in the conform section.
Deliver is set to 23.976.
I noticed that if I change video output to 23.98 from 24, the playback rate will default back to 24, even though I changed it to 23.98.
New and empty projects, I can conform the frame rate to 23.98 in the conform section.
I also noticed that I can alter the frame rate in the XML (Set the first sequence ntsc flag to true) and it comes in as 23.98 in FCP7.
I guess this is a big or something. It doesn’t feel quite right.

Automatically set project settings doesn’t seem to work for me unless I’m holding it wrong. Only setting 23.976 on a blank project seems to work.
This is weird.
